Alcoa Wheels - The Forging Process
Step 1
Every wheel starts as a single block of high-strength aluminium alloy. |
Step 2
With an 8000 tonne press, the block is forged into the basic wheel shape. Once forged, the wheels are heat-treated to maximise overall mechanical strength. |
Step 3
Precision machining ensures that each wheel is perfectly round. This eliminates any runout in a turning wheel. |
Step 4
Next, the ventilation and mounting holes are drilled. |
Step 5
The Mirror Polish operation gives the wheel a reflective shine. |
That gives you higher payload also gives you 423% more strength !
